Revolution For A Reason

April
21

The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution, is a one of a kind event that happened here in our country. Three important days filled with the bravery that each of the participants exerted, days that might even seem like years to those who have shown their utmost devotion to serve our beloved country.

A movement that some people thought would end up as a bloody war, but turned out to be a peaceful movement filled with prayers and emotions of every kind. A non-violent rally whose purpose is to unite the people in order to fight for what they think is right.

Unity among us Filipinos has truly been shown during the revolution. Soldiers, nuns, priests, politicians and millions of civilians all held hands to protest against a 20-year authoritarian regime of the former president, Mr. Ferdinand Marcos.

Radio Veritas’ program supported the People Power that it was what mobilized people to join the revolution in just a matter of minutes. It was said to be the umbilical cord of our fellow Filipinos to whatever was going on.

In the end, with all the efforts of our fellowmen, the revolution has been a success. Marcos fled from the Malacanang Palace to the United States and was replaced by Corazon Aquino as the President of the Philippines.

Unity, discipline and courage are all that we need in order to surpass this kind of situation if we ever encounter it again.
